Job Introduction

Are you passionate about good governance and making a difference in the community?

The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (CBMDC) is looking to appoint two independent members to the Council’s Governance and Audit Committee. This is a pivotal team that ensures transparency, accountability, and high standards across the Council. As a member of the Committee, you will bring fresh perspectives, support decision-making processes, and ensure the Council delivers on its promises to residents and stakeholders. Although you do not have to be a resident of the Bradford District, you must have a genuine commitment to serving the public, an excellent knowledge of the district and a determination to deliver high quality, cost-effective services.

What you’ll need:

  •  You will have senior-level experience, ideally in Local Government or a similarly complex organisation, and although you do not need to be a qualified accountant, you must have expertise in financial management, audit practice, risk management, or governance.
  • We are also interested in your strong track record in continuous improvement, service transformation and delivering high-quality outcomes together with the ability to challenge constructively, influence decisions, and foster consensus in a collaborative environment.
  • All Committee Members receive an induction and other appropriate training.

For further information please refer to the information pack.

To apply:

If you are interested in serving on the Committee, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please send your CV and a 2-page supporting statement outlining how your skills and experience relate to the role to: Mark St Romaine, Head of Internal Audit, Insurance and Risk:  mark.stromaine@bradford.gov.uk

We will take up references for shortlisted candidates, prior to interview. If you do not wish us to contact your referees at that stage, then please indicate this on your CV.  Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview in City Hall, Centenary Square, Bradford BD1 1HY.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment and actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
