Job Introduction

STAYING PUT – proud to provide vital support & services to the men, women & children of Bradford who are survivors of domestic abuse & sexual violence. We help people have better lives – and you can too.

With over 23 years’ experience of providing support to men, women and children who are survivors of domestic abuse & sexual violence in the Bradford area, we put our clients at the heart of what we do and are continually striving to make the survivors experience the very best it can be whilst accessing our services.

Our team of committed and dedicated colleagues work with passion and integrity to deliver a holistic package of integrated support in our fast-changing environment.

Children’s Support Worker

Do you have the passion, drive and initiative to deliver a range of age-appropriate activities & services to children between 0 and 5 years old? You will be working with children who have been witness to, or victims of, domestic abuse now living with their parent, in our refuges & dispersed properties in the Bradford and Keighley areas.

Can you provide creative solutions to achieve positive outcomes with children?

If yes, then this may be the opportunity for you.

About the role

Working with children aged 0-5 years, and their families, is an important and highly rewarding role. As a Children’s Support Worker, you will help to empower parents to create a healthy family environment to enable children living in our supported accommodation to feel safe and to thrive.

You will work in a trauma informed way, with a holistic think-family approach, assessing families’ individual needs to create tailored support plans to safeguard and reduce the risk of further harm. You will achieve positive outcomes through a collaborative approach, offering practical and emotional support to families in both 121 and group settings and through partnership work with professionals such as Social Care, Health and Education.

You will advocate and be the voice for our children and families, ensuring they have an increased sense of safety and wellbeing.

About you

We are looking for someone who has a desire to work with families and young children and a dynamic and positive attitude to help make a difference to those living in our accommodation service. You will have empathy, active listening and effective communication skills, alongside critical thinking skills.

Our ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a supportive team and be able to work collaboratively with families and professionals. You will have a professional, can-do attitude, work with passion and drive and be able to think outside of the box to help our children and families feel safe, empowered and increase their overall wellbeing in their daily lives.

We are looking for someone who will be able to work in an organised way, manage your workload and be adaptable to changing priorities. You will have good written and verbal communication to help maintain accurate records and ensure these are reviewed with families to track their progress. Within this role you will promote inclusivity, adhere to standards such as safeguarding and confidentiality and work with integrity to make a difference to the lives of families and children accessing our services.

Women only – ** Due to the nature of our refuges being for women only, we can only accept applications from women under schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010**

Full time, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, £26,751 to £27,898 depending on qualifications. Fixed term for 12 months.
